Work covered

An erection enquiry should identify the structure type, drawings, component schedule, lifting plan responsibility, access and working area. Information needed for an erection package

An erection enquiry turns on the structure itself and on who controls the lift. Name the structure type and send the approved drawings and component schedule with their revision number. The website does not publish standard lifting limits or an equipment list, so the method, plant and crew have to be reviewed against the actual structure and site.

Alignment, bolting and torque records

Alignment and bolting are accepted against figures in the project documents, not against a general description. The enquiry should state the alignment tolerance, the torque value for each bolt grade, whether torque is applied by calibrated wrench or tensioning, and what record is required — a torque log per connection, a sample check, or a signed completion sheet. Say who witnesses those checks and who holds the calibration certificates.

Grouting and completion

Grouting responsibility sits with whichever package the contract puts it in; it is not assumed here. Where it is included, the enquiry should give the grout specification, the base preparation required, the curing period before load is applied, and whether final tightening happens before or after grouting. Snag closure and the completion record should be defined at the same time.

Inspection records

Inspection and handover should cover only the agreed erection package. Relevant records may include component checks, alignment readings, connection completion, specified torque records, grouting status and snag closure when required by the project documents. Height-work arrangements and access restrictions must be discussed before mobilisation. The client should identify permit systems, interface responsibilities and witnessing requirements. This avoids presenting a general service description as proof of a particular method, certification or completed project.
